SPRINGFIELD – Earlier this month, the Illinois Department of Transportation unveiled its multi-year plan for road and bridge improvement projects. State Senator Steve Landek (D-Bridgeview) is pleased to announced over $22 million in funding will be spent on projects in and around the area he represents.
“A few years ago, the General Assembly passed the first statewide construction plan in over a decade, meant to address some of our state’s most pressing infrastructure needs,” Landek said. “I was able to advocate for spending some of those funds on road improvement projects in the Southwest Suburbs, and it’s great to see IDOT making a commitment to fulfilling those construction needs.”
The projects announced include:
- Over $7 million for pavement preservation on Harlem Ave. between 62nd and 111th St.;
- Over $13.6 million for intersection improvements and other miscellaneous improvements on East Ave. between Joliet Rd. and 55th and on 55th St. between East Ave. and Joliet Rd.;
- Over $1.7 million for miscellaneous improvements on Austin Blvd. between Cermak Rd. and 29th; and
- $5,000 for preliminary engineering on Roberts Rd. between 79th and 87th St.
“The completion of these projects will usher in a new era of safety and beauty for our roads,” Landek said.
