moving-wallBERWYN – Closing ceremonies for HONOR 2014: The Moving Wall took place in Berwyn on Sunday, August 10, concluding a four day event that honored and remembered the over 58,000 men and women who lost their lives in combat in the Vietnam War.

The Moving Wall, a half size replica of the Washington, D.C. Vietnam Veterans Memorial, has toured the country for almost 30 years. Veterans from Berwyn and nearby communities came out to Proksa Park with family, friends and neighbors to view The Moving Wall, and to participate in the closing ceremonies.

State Senator Steven Landek (D-Bridgeview) sponsored the closing ceremonies with U.S. Rep. Dan Lipinski. As part of the closing ceremony, Landek laid a wreath at The Moving Wall.

“This is a remarkable and humbling event,” said Landek. “It reminds us all that we are forever in debt to those who have served and currently serve to protect our freedoms here at home.”

The Berwyn Park District recruited and organized the four day event, which began Thursday, August 7 with an opening ceremony hosted by Berwyn Mayor Robert J. Lovero.
