State Rep. Lisa Hernandez officially opened her new legislative office located in Chicago's Little Village Neighborhood with a grand opening on October 8. State Senator Steve Landek was there to support the grand opening and greet constituents.
The office is located at 3948 W. 26th Street, Suite 112. Hernandez shares the constituent office with Sen. Landek. The office has full-time staff available to help district residents address issues that are of concern to them.
"This is a part of our commitment to work together as elected officials and to also provide services to our constituents in the House and the Senate District," Landek said.
Landek's Senate District includes two House Districts held by Hernandez and State Rep. Michael Zalewski.
The South Suburban Veterans Committee made a donation recently to support veterans issues. A check for $1,000 was presented to Amvets Post 192 located in Bridgeview. This check to the Amvets will be used to purchase small work kits to give employment opportunities to permanently disabled or hospital bound veterans.
Senator Steve Landek, a member of the South Suburban Veterans Committee, said the donation is another example of generous people in our communities showing their compassion.
“This donation will be used specifically to help our fellow veterans," said Amvets Commander Rich Perna. "As a veterans organization we focus on assisting long-term disabled veterans, Americans who gave completely of themselves for their country.”
Amvets Post 192 is located at 7700 S. Harlem, (next to Northwest Business College) and is open every day to the public. The post offers programs and recreation including a shuffle board, gaming machines, a bar and a place to relax and have fun.
The post is available to rent for hosting private parties, meetings or other events. Currently the post has a membership roll of over 300 veterans, and new members are always welcome.
"Committee chairs Rich Struzik and Jeff Kranig deserve a lot of credit for raising the funds needed to continue the good work of the committee," Sen. Landek said.
